Matt once said, ” if you can’t be true to yourself, who can you be true to?” His true passion is snowboarding, and to do anything else would go against who he is. Matt will be at the mountain having fun no matter what the conditions, and the smile on his face will convince you of that. Whether filming, freeriding, or competing on the World Tour, Matt is doing what he loves, and should be an inspiration for all of us to follow our noses.

Q&A

1.) When and where did you learn to snowboard? Who did you learn from?

I learned to snowboard in Stowe, VT in 1992. My brother, Jeff and I tried it out, and then I was forced to learn in order to keep up with him when he went back to skiing.

2.) Whats going on in your head before a run or big line?

Before dropping in, my head has a mixture between focusing on the planed line and thinking 'Man, I am lucky'

3.) What do you prefer park or backcountry?

The backcountry is the place for me.

4.) Favorite Discrete product?

Whatever hat I choose to wear that day is my favorite.

5.) Who are some of your favorite people to follow on Instagram?

Not too big on the instagram scene yet

6.) 20 years form now, what do you want to be remembered for?

I would like to be remembered for my constant smile.

7.) Which athletes did you admire most growing up, and who do you look up to now?

I really liked the riding of Johan Olofsson and Jeremy Jones. Now, there are a ton on the list including Xavier de la Rue, Ryland Bell, Ralph Backstrom, and Skylar Holgate.
