What started out as just an idea from the local hero and everyones favorite bartender Rob Ho, the bi-weekly Alta Peruvian Video Challenge has blossomed into an outstanding event that has brought the ski/snowboard community together to highlight and support the talents of the best skiers and riders in the Wasatch.
Round 1 of the Video Challenge kicked off last night (01/15) and the masses came out from all nooks and crannies to see who was going to be crowned the first champion and take away a hefty prize package graciously provided a great group of contest sponsors.
Rob Ho: The Stoke Factor
The crowd and eager contestants began to pile into the bar as soon as the door opened. Ho was there to greet them with a smile and wet their whistle after a long day on the mountain.
A moment of silence
Last night was a night of mourning as we unfortunately lost Bryce Astle, a young up and coming member of the ski community that unfortunately lost his life in an avalanche last week. We started the event with commemorating the loss with a moment of silence.
The Contest Rages On. The stoke is high.
The top 10 videos were selected from the Video Challenge and contestants were judged on style, creativity, and recency. With a judging panel of four local heroes combined with crowd applause, the winner of the video contest was a hard one to choose.

"Wild Life" - Hayden Price
Hayden's video encompassed everything we are looking for in a quality video submission. His video titled "Wild Life" was a typical day in the life at Alta Ski Area including a scenic drive up, meeting up with good friend (Thayne Rich), and tricking/slashing every feature in sight and overall just enjoying the mountain life.
